We’re in the midst of a blizzard here in DC so Otaku Links is up a little late as I do things like buy groceries and find the flashlight batteries. There’s no chance I’ll be going outside all weekend, so I’m hunkered down with some Gunpla models and Ristorante Paradiso, which is apparently named after me. In the meantime I’m launching a t-shirt line and wrapping up the affiliate blog series. See you Monday!
- Buying DVDs is far from the only way to support the anime industry. According to the Japan Times, online streaming has become a major revenue stream for anime studios. (HT Steve!)
- What’s up with the smiley new Funimation logo? Justin at Organization Anti-Social Geniuses talked to the company about what into the redesign process.
- Both Organization Anti-Social Geniuses and Yattatachi wrote about why you should stop pirating anime in 2016. If you really love something, you should support it.
- Being an introvert at a fan convention—a reality plenty of people can relate to.
- At Anime News Network, myself and the other reviewers all answered the question: Which Anime Made You Cry? Don’t read mine unless you’ve already watched Silver Spoon.
- Also: I unwittingly wrote the most popular article of my Forbes career this week, about how accusing a large group of liking anime remains a handy way to insult them. I was not expecting this article to get so much attention and I can only hope that it leads to the unlikely result of the Republican party courting the votes of hentai afficionados.
- And finally, just for laughs: Facebook ‘On This Day’ Becoming Unpopular for Reminding People of Their Weeb Years. Do you remember Ken-sama?

Nice link round up as usual.
Agree with the articles on paying for anime.
Never heard of Ken-sama so that was fun.
Glad to hear that streaming services are really helping the anime industry. I’ve never regretted paying for a premium membership with Crunchyroll (thanks for my original guest pass, Lauren!)
Ah, the anime that made you cry… Good article. There were a couple mentioned that have long been on my too watch list so now I think I shall need to move them way up on the list. I like anime that makes me cry, though I often then need a chaser of a slice of life or comedy anime.
Saw your article on the “Hentai Fans for Trump” earlier today. Not sure which candidate insult is more pathetic, the one against anime or the ones against a pair of heeled boots.
