Maybe it’s because the sun stays out so much longer, but I’m always more productive in the summer. It’s a great time to start acting on your goal to build or expand a writing career. And what better way to start than by reading Otaku Journalism, the ONLY guide written specifically for journalists with geeky inclinations?
Starting now, Otaku Journalism is 50% off on Amazon. I’ve dropped its price from $5.99 to $2.99, effective immediately. The sale will last until next Wednesday, 7/23.
Some recent praise:
“I’ll be honest, I’ve done tons of bits and pieces of writing over the years, and lots of blogging but nothing has really stuck for me, as I realized before and while reading Lauren Orsini’s fabulous book Otaku Journalism. I feel pretty good recommending this book to anyone, male or female, otaku or not. If you’re passionate about SOMETHING, this is by far the ideal book for you to get.” —BJ Wanlund
“Being in this position where I feel like I’m on the edge of the cliff on making the decision to do fandom freelancing, Orsini reassures with proven tactics that I could do just that. With helpful information and examples, it’s a go-to for those willing to take the plunge too!” — Rachel C.
“Honestly, this book should be given out to anyone who’s majoring in journalism. After reading this, I feel like I’m a journalist. There’s everything from pitching, ethics, events, and idea creation. Basically covers everything you need to start a blog or a beat.” — Kevin Raposo
Otaku Journalism has an average reader review of five stars. Ready to see what people are talking about? Check it out and definitely email me about what you think.

What made you start an anime blog? I
What made you start an anime blog? How did you start? I want to write about figures I collect, but I don’t want to write full reviews on them, since that has already been taken care of by other sites.
@HeyKagome:disqus don’t take this the wrong way but I think “because other people are already doing it” is a bad idea not to set a goal. Who is to say you can’t do reviews better or in your own unique way? If I had said, “Oh I shouldn’t start an anime blog, there are already so many out there,” we wouldn’t even be having this conversation in the first place!
No no i didnt take it the wrong way! Wow thanks for your fast reply!
I think I will do a figure blog then because I do have an idea what to write about!
What site do you suggest a beginner to use? I don’t want to download WordPress, but I do want people to find me. I have tried Blogger in the past, but it’s hard to find other people.
@HeyKagome:disqus send me an email and we can talk about this in more detail. Sound good?
sure! where would I email you?
oh wait i found it!
Oh, of course, drop the price after we loyal readers have first bought it!
I will try to finish the book soon so I can give you a proper review. My fruit fly-esque attention span makes it very hard for me to finish books quickly.
@tommyphillips:disqus I really appreciate you buying my book, but I also want as many people to read my book as possible. I figure if they didn’t know me well enough to buy it at full price, maybe they’d buy it at half. Either way, I definitely hope that when you read it, you feel that you got your money’s worth!
